I believe we are all born with intuitive (“psychic”) abilities although they are easier to access for some than for others. Society conditions all of us – but particularly men – to ignore, mistrust, or suppress our intuition. Despite being an extremely sensitive child capable of great empathy and insight, and despite early success helping others through intuitive Tarot card readings in my teens, I suppressed my own intuitive abilities for many years.
But even though I wasn’t actively nurturing my intuition, it never left me. My ability to see through the surface level to the heart of situations and other people enabled me to develop a very successful career in the business world. But it wasn’t until synchronicity brought me many years later to a renowned psychic medium that I began to understand and embrace my own intuition.
By then, I had suppressed my own abilities so deeply that I was a full-on skeptic. I went in expecting to emerge with proof that this woman was a fraud. I was stone-faced and determined she wouldn’t be able to read anything from my reactions or body language. Basically, I was a nightmare client!
But her first words to me caught me off guard: “You see things, don’t you?”. I scoffed but she insisted and then proceeded to completely blow my mind for the next hour by connecting with my loved ones on the other side. She provided very accurate information that completely defied logic.
That encounter was impossible to shake – there simply was no possible way she could know the things she knew. My logical mind tied itself in knots trying every which way to explain it away. But there was simply no other answer than that she was receiving information psychically from me and also directly connecting to loved ones in the spirit world.
I kept coming back to her words for months. “You see things, don’t you?”. When I told friends and family about this, they were all amazed because she’d never said anything like that to any of them. She helped me realize I had been ignoring or suppressing my abilities for much of my life. My world changed dramatically as I unlocked the door to my abilities as an adult.
I quickly discovered that not only could I “read” people without the use of tools like Tarot cards, I was also a medium! I was so blown away by this, that I actually did anonymous readings online actively trying to prove to myself I wasn’t a medium. I figured if these exchanges were anonymous, I would get truly unbiased, unfiltered feedback. Much to my surprise, the readings proved to be highly evidential and accurate!
As I began to study and train, I also had readings with two other professional psychics. The first told me that I was going to not only do this professionally, but teach others. I actually laughed at that one because teaching was the last thing I could imagine myself doing. Only in hindsight a decade later did I realize she was right. And now I absolutely love teaching!
Without prompting, the other psychic not only told me she could sense my own abilities but that she would like to be my teacher. For the next eighteen months, she mentored me one-on-one every week. Not only did she spend hours with me each week, she charged me next to nothing for her time.
Through these years of meditation, mentorships and training I was able to fully understand, accept and embrace my abilities and the reality of the spirit world. I realized that we are all spiritual beings who are energetically connected and that our life’s journeys are about Love and learning. And our soul’s journey doesn’t end when we leave the physical world.
I realized my purpose in life is to use my mediumship and psychic ability to provide guidance, healing, and inspiration to others. I am eternally grateful for this discovery. After thirteen years – and counting – I am continually humbled by the opportunities to help others and at the power of intuitive readings as a tool for psychic and spiritual guidance.
